Meet Our Pastor

Message from our Pastor

I greet you with both prayer and proclamation that our Almighty GOD and Father, through the love and grace of His SON our Savior JESUS CHRIST, by the power of His HOLY SPIRIT will always abide and abound with each of us as we worship in Spirit and in Truth at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. To GOD, be the glory for the great things He has done through us and for us.

“There’s a vision that’s yet to be seen,” and that in the grand scheme and larger landscape of GOD’S agenda for PBC, we have only just begun and have a long road ahead of us. I can attest and affirm with great confidence and greater joy that ‘GOD has a lot of work for us to do - together.’ We must re-enforce our focus, energy, efforts, and resources to ‘Saving Souls’ as I (as Pastor) continue to ‘Preach JESUS’ and all of our church family get more involved and serious about ‘Sharing JESUS.’ Each individual member must be sure that you have Him within you, and you are sold out for His Kingdom. Together, we can ‘Build New Legacies’ that both ‘draw from and build upon the rich history and heritage of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitors are always welcome; new members are always ordained to embark upon our goal of building God’s Kingdom from 1339 Colonel Maham Dr. Pineville, South Carolina to all the world.

Please join us in sharing the 2021 Vision "Because My Father has sent me, I Am determined to LIVE IN PEACE." John 20:21

With Kindest Regard,

Rev. Terris Green, Pastor

PILGRIM BAPTIST CHURCH HISTORY

Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church was the dream and goal of the late Reverend Gabriel L. Gaillard. After marrying Laura Theirse, the couple held their first organizational meeting in his mother's home. Present at the inaugural 1943 meeting were: Reverend S.L. Taylor, Licentiate (Lct.) Henry Middleton, Deacon Nathan Washington, Deacon Burns, and Deacon Shedrick Gaillard. The Reverend Gabriel Gaillard served as pastor. Shortly after the first meeting, Deacon Nathan Washington donated land to make the dream of a church structure a reality.

The clearing of land and preparation for the building was a collaborative effort by many individuals. As we celebrate our 77th anniversary, we also pay tribute to the men and women who served in the various offices and auxiliaries of the church. Although they are gone to Glory, we celebrate their contributions and services by keeping their vision in view and continuing to make Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church a genuine place of worship.

The officers were as follows: Reverend John Palmer, Trustee Board Chairman; Licentiate, Lawrence Gaillard, Building Committee Chairman; Deacon Elijah Prioleau, Treasurer; Deacon Shedrick Gaillard served as Financial Committee Superintendent, Assistant Class Leader, and Teaching Father; Mother Inah Gaillard served as Teaching Mother; Deacon William Gaillard, President of the Ushers; Deacon Douglass Judge and Deacon Nathan Washington served as Deacon Board Members. Deacon Rebecca Washington served as Chairperson of the Deaconess Ministry. Sister Annie Judge served as Assistant Sunday School Superintendent; Sister Rebecca Gaillard served as Church Secretary, and Sister Hermenia Gaillard served as Secretary of the Missionary Board. Sister Mary Gaillard served as Pulpit Aide Chairperson and Mother Laura Gaillard (Pastor Wife) served as an original choir member.

In 1955 Deacon Nathan Washington was called into the ministry and received his license from the Institute in Pineville, S.C., and began preaching the Word of God. Reverend Washington served under the leadership of the Reverend G.L. Gaillard until his passing.

To date, there are a few of the original faithful servants from the original 1943 congregation who still serves in the church. We thank and praise God for them. With the help of the Cooper River Baptist Association, Reverend G.L. Gaillard, assisted by Licentiate Nathan Washington, pastored Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church from 1943 to 1973 when God called him home. Licentiate Washington continued his service to Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church until he became ill and was called to rest from his labor in August of 1982. Reverend James Pinckney served as pastor from 1974 to 1983. In 1984, the Reverend Arthur White was appointed and served as pastor from August 2, 1984, until February 1998. In 1998, the Reverend Clifford Brown was called to render morning services, as a result of that service, Reverend Brown became pastor from 1998 until June of 2016. Brother Terris Green began as a part-time musician of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in 1997. After becoming the primary Minister of Music, Brother Green along with his family became members of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. Brother Green assisted members of all the ministries in the church. After accepting the call to the Ministry of the Gospel, Brother Green preached his initial sermon on April 26, 2015, selected as the Minister of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church on January 2, 2017, was ordained as a Reverend on Sunday, January 15, 2017, voted on and officially installed as the Pastor of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, March 25, 2017.
